Renaissance, Reformation, and Age of Exploration
The Renaissance began in the 14th century and ended in the middle of the 16th century. The renaissance yielded many changed in intellectual, artistic, and cultural life. The word Renaissance is a term derived from the French word meaning, "rebirth." The renaissance truly was a rebirth of classical texts and works, and was a period of light that followed a pessimistic time period (middle ages). The Reformation began in the 16th century and ended in the 17th century. The Reformation was a tumultuous time for changes in religion. The emergence of Humanism and Christian Humanism influenced many people to consider reformation, as they drew away from the strong influence of the Catholic Church. The Age of Exploration began in 1450 and ended 200 years later in 1650. The Age of Exploration was inspired by the desire for luxury goods that countries outside of Europe possessed. The Age of Exploration brought about many cultural changes, assimilation, and resistance, as different worlds clashed together in first meetings.
