Social History 1500-2000
Social History in Europe fluctuated a lot in Europe. In the 1500s, women were not granted extensive rights. During the Enlightenment in the 1600s, some writers and philosophers began to advocate for their rights. During the agricultural and industrial revolutions, women gained more rights for working and property possession. During the World Wars, women were given more rights that men had, because most of the males were off at war. Class structure has also changed a lot during European history. In the 1500s, serfdom was still existent in Europe. there was a strong distinction between nobility and peasantry classes, until class distinction because more prominent in revolutions and development of governments. In the French Revolution, three classes are clearly defined and have a little more ability to make changes. Movement to cities was another major change in social history, as serfdom broke down, guilds emerged, and city life became the more opportune place to live.
