Europe Post-1945
After 1945, Europe worked hard to reach economic, social, and political recovery from the years of back-to-back wars. Many new economic policies such as the Marshall Plan, COMECON, and the Council of Europe worked to provide stabilized economies and economic unity. The United States and the Soviet Union were extremely competitive, and a division of West Germany and East Germany resulted out of their conflict, also known as the Cold War. As a result of the Cold War there was much decolonization and migration to main, prosperous European countries. During the 1960s, Europe experienced a temporary period of political, cultural, and economic relaxation, which was disturbed after the 1970s approached. Economic growth came to a halt. New cultural reformations occurred with the Feminist movement and Environmental movement. in the 1990s, communist dissolved and capitalism came to the front.
