Art, Music, Literature in History 1450-2000
Throughout European history, art forms have changed greatly. In Renaissance, art forms and literature were focused around classical works such as Aristotle and Plato, and featured many paintings of classic Roman buildings and sculptures of famous figures. The Renaissance gave way to the Baroque art era in 1550, characterized by extreme detail to achieve full drama, and famous composers such as Bach. Around 1625, Dutch culture became very prominent with famous painters such as Vermeer and Rembrandt. Around 1850 realism became a popular art form, followed by impressionism, pointilism, and cubism. In the 1920s, surrealism became a popular art movement based of Sigmund Freud's psychological discoveries.
