Development of Monarchies and Religious Wars
Religious Wars occurred in multiple places, but most prominently from 1500-1600. In the early 1500s, the Catholic Church was the only main religious influence in Europe, but after pressures from distrust of the church and its flaws including clerical immorality, ignorance, and pluralism, Europeans began to form different religions. Protestantism formed of the Catholic Church. Leaders such as Martin Luther, Henry VIII, Ulrich Zwingli, and John Calvin were some of the pain instigators of why religious wars began. The result of Religious Wars was that countries, such as the Holy Roman Empire, had much more freedom in choosing what religions could be practiced. Absolutism and Constitutionalism began in 1589 and went through 1725. During a time of crisis in many European Nations, Absolutism was the best solution to providing order. Absolutist leaders would make centralized states that pulled together economic, political, and social aspects of European life.
